Mehded Maryam Sinclair–When you hear, you’ll see.

Welcome to Nur al Qasas, on the eve of the beginning of another new Islamic year.  May the blessings of Muharram be magnified over all the ummah worldwide. May we be guided and protected as the sand sifts through the glass, bringing us ever closer and closer to the day Muhammad, may Allah bless him and give him peace, said would come, when holding onto  one’s deen would be as difficult as holding burning coals in the palm of one’s hand.

Alhamdulillah we aren’t there yet! I have some lovely news to share. Here in Amman I teach in a homeschooling initiative and I overheard one of my students, 8 year-old Abdal Majeed ibn Hamid, talking to a mate about my audio double CD, The Bowing of the Stars, a 1 1/2 hour telling of the life of the Prophet Yusuf, peace upon him, with a 30 min recitation of Suratul Yusuf by Sheikh Ali Hani.

“We love that CD,”  he said. “We listen to it all the time. Even my baby brother likes it. But if you want to memorize the surah, just put in CD2, press track 3, and you’ll memorize it!”

The next day this is what his mother told me:

I noticed that Abdul Majeed would shut himself up in his room alone with the CD. Then I noticed that he started following the text in the mushaf as he listened to the recitation. He came and told me he’d nearly memorized it. A day later he came and told me he’d seen a dream: he’d recited the entire surah from memory for the Prophet, may Allah bless him and give him peace, who was with him, wearing a long green robe, and who embraced him when he finished. I said to him, ‘Look, you must never forget that when you have seen the Prophet, you have REALLY seen him, it isn’t just a dream.’  Walahi,” she exclaimed, “this is homeschooling, alhamdulillah!”

Well, any teacher loves the appreciation of the parents she teaches. And any storyteller loves the folks who love her stories. But subhanAllah, I was dazzled. I teach a child the Prophet himself has embraced. He lives in my building. His cat hangs out by my door. Maybe we have another Imam Junayd in our midst…

Anyway, if you’d like, you can catch a sample of the CD by clicking on the link below. If you live in the US, you could purchase online it from Rumibookstore. With your du’as and the largesse of Allah, before too long you’ll be able to download it from my new website, along with my first CD, Miraculous Happenings in  the Year of the Elephant, and the third one, A Mercy to the Worlds, the Coming of Muhammad, may Allah bless him and give him peace. My books, MIRACULOUS HAPPENINGS IN THE YEAR OF THE ELEPHANT, and the soon-to-be-released-inshaAllah A TRUST OF TREASURES, can be purchased from and the Islamic Foundation, Markfield, England. And Allah knows best.

  1. Assalamualikum. It’s a really heart touching story mashaallah. To send my daughter to you and to live in Jordan will be dream come true. I hear many good things about the school. We’re in Sydney. Please keep us in your dua.
So, just to clearify so far you have three cds and two books (one on the way). Where can I get all of them from?

    • wa alaykum as salam Tahsina! Barakallahu feeke! I know someone coming to Australia, within easy posting distance to you. Send me your postal address to and I’ll send a Bowing of the Stars CD and a Miraculous Happenings in the Year of the Elephant CD. The Mercy to the Worlds CD is not out yet, but will be soon inshaAllah and you’ll be able to download it from Sunnipath inshaAllah, or there are often folks coming and going between Jordan and Sydney alhamdulillah. As for the two books, Miraculous Happenings and A Trust of Treasures, haven’t yet figured out the distribution but you could ask a bookstore there to order them for you from Kube Publishing, the Islamic Foundation of Markfield UK

  2. Assalamu Alaikum,
We just finished listening to Story of Yusuf (as). The kids and myself enjoyed it immensely. Jazak’Allahu Khairun for this great work.
